Well, how about 2020. What a year!

I want to start this with a thank you to our staff, customers, followers and friends, you have undoubtedly got us through this year.

To think in January, we were planning for a normal year, events being booked in, site work going from strength to strength. Then, suddenly wham bam it all stopped, it was like time stood still…… but for us only for a moment.

Being in the waste industry we were key workers, so therefore, we continued business as usual. We had to adapt very quickly, as well as the rest of the world, a global pandemic takes no prisoners. We rolled up our sleeves, adapting our working policies so that we could operate as safely as possible.

I know from a personal point of view, I felt very much responsible for the safety of our employees. However, our amazing, brilliant, resilient team never faltered.

Fond Festival Memories

Like everyone in the event industry our work stopped, couldn’t go ahead. I think that for me is one of the saddest parts of 2020, no Weston Super Mare Pride, no Godney Gathering at Garslade Farm, our favourite events just did not happen. Traditions such as Harvest Homes did not take place.

Adapting to a changing world

Like in every storm, there comes the sun, and for us it was adapting to what we do best to get through like many others. We rolled up our sleeves and took on the cleaning of the public toilets on Brean Beach. This went on from May all the way through the summer, we wanted our local people to feel they had safe facilities to use 7 days a week.

A demand then came for more toilets and sinks, we took this in our stride and continued to supply customers new and old with what they wanted. Peoples attitudes had changed, suddenly welfare facilities were all the more important and the standards that we provide as a business are second to none. Why look any further.

I think as we slightly take our foot off the gas for Christmas it’s a great time to reflect and be thankful for the industry, we are in. I hope that our team has a well-deserved rest and put their feet up. I hope that they spend time with people they love, if 2020 has taught us anything, people are invaluable, our team is invaluable.

I wish I had more to write, I normally would sum up our year of events and exciting news, this year it didn’t work out like that. I am however, happy to be writing this, we got through it, and are still getting through it.

Festive Closing and Opening Times

This year we will close our doors on Wednesday 23rd December and re open on Monday 04th January. We will have no call out facilities over this period. The team needs a rest, and that is what they are getting.

So, let’s be thankful for the struggles we go through, they make us stronger, wiser and humble. Don’t let them break you, let them make you.

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
